I have 4 of these bags, two of the 32 inch and two of 24 inch and I've thoroughly tested them. I've had the bags for over 3 years and I use them heavily. I've taken them on weekend road trips and I've also moved with these bags to many different states plus to and from Europe. They have literally transported my entire life. These duffels are my only luggage and I use them for storage when I'm not traveling.
I wouldn't buy them again but I might recommend them depending on who's asking.
The pros:
• These are stylish, I get a lot of compliments.
• The duffel style is easy to pack and will hold a lot.
• They're made of natural materials inside and out
• My 24 inch bags are still in excellent condition, but they aren't used as heavily as my 32 inch bags.
• The smaller bags can nest nicely into the larger bags
• The color does get richer over time and the leather becomes more supple. I've wiped them down with leather cleaner and conditioner once.
• No zipper issues
• Packaged really well, great customer service
The cons:
• There is a smell but I didn't mind it that much and it fades
• One of my bags didn't come with a pocket on the inside.
• The bags are pretty heavy when empty compared to something similar in polyester.
• The straps are very long and they don't come with enough holes in them to adjust to a good carrying length. You have to add extra holes yourself.
• On my last plane trip, the buckles on the outer pockets broke and the only thing I keep in those pockets are the straps for the bag. It's a shame because I wish the bags didn't have outer pockets and now they're just decoration I don't like.
• Both of my 32 inch bags have broken/torn in the spot where the handle meets the bag. The rivets have come out leaving holes in the bag or the seams are coming undone. I do pack these bags heavily when I travel (50-70 pounds). The bags are still fully functional and the tearing hasn't gotten much worse despite continued heavy usage. I suspect I could still use them the same way for some time. You can buy replacement rivets on the brand website but it's still annoying and unsightly. The holes also make it easier for water to get in.
• These were part of a wheeled luggage vs duffel experiment for me and I got rid of my wheeled luggage to use these duffels exclusively. I've traveled the world with rolling luggage and it is much easier. Even though I used taxis and luggage carts it would have been a lot simpler/cheaper at times to be able to just take a train or a bus. I'm a petite woman so these might work better for you if you're bigger/stronger, pack lighter or only have one or two of the small bags.
Overall I'd say the smaller bags are a great deal if you REALLY like the style or the materials and you specifically need a duffel bag vs wheeled luggage. If you want a versatile matching set like I did and want the big sizes too, go ahead but they may not last forever. Consider weight and how you will be using them.
